Meat stuffed cabbage rolls

Meat stuffed cabbage rolls. A slightly different way to cook savoy cabbage and obtain a well-balanced second course is to make tasty rolls. The alternatives to make the filling are many, one of my favorite versions is certainly the one in which you use sausage pasta, parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg and a little pepper and ginger. Therefore today I will propose this version to you!

To cook it I used the VIVO Vapojet steamer by Classe Italy, perfect for this kind of dishes. In fact, it is not necessary to preheat it and 12 minutes in total will be enough for cooking, in fact it starts to emit steam only 30 seconds after switching it on. It therefore saves time and energy, and the difference is especially noticeable for these quick-cooking dishes.

Meat stuffed cabbage rolls

Ingredients (6 portions):

  • 6 cabbage leaves
  • 400g sausage paste
  • 2 Tbsp of grated Parmesan
  • 2 Tbsp of breadcrumbs
  • pepper
  • 2cm ginger root
  • 400g tomato sauce
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Oil
  • Oregano
  • Salt

Directions:

  1. Start by taking the leaves of the savoy cabbage (white or green), starting from the outermost ones and trying not to damage them, wash and drain them well.
  2. Then fill the steamer with water, open it, place the plate and the metal grid. Also arrange the plastic support and insert 3 cabbage leaves inside. Then add a second shelf, the other 3 leaves and close with the lid. Run for about 12 minutes. With other less powerful steamers, times are around 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the filling by pouring the sausage paste, grated Parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg, pepper and grated ginger into a bowl. Also add salt to taste if everything is not sufficiently tasty.
  4. As soon as the cabbages are cooked, go to form the rolls, arrange two spoons of filling towards the bottom of the leaf, starting to roll and folding the ends of the cabbage inwards, so as to seal well.
  5. Then heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan with the peeled and halved garlic. Then brown the rolls for a couple of minutes on each side so that they are golden.
  6. Now add the tomato sauce and oregano and cook for another 12-15 minutes. Serve hot!
