Roll with bacon, stringy cheese and herbs

Roll with bacon, stringy cheese and herbs. Versione italiana. This roll is a very quick and easy dish to prepare, but for this reason it is no less greedy or ideal for an aperitif with friends, especially if organized at the last minute.

Since the ingredients are few, it is better that they are of quality. Perfect for this preparation is the Pancetta Tesa with Herbs (similar to bacon), tasty and aromatic at the right point to give that extra touch compared to any bacon that is usually found in large retailers. I advise you to combine it with a cheese that is not excessively salty, which melts, but not too moist. For example, Scamorza, Edamer could be fine, but I would avoid fontina, because it is too tasty, or mozzarella, because it is too moist. Then just a final touch with a few leaves of herbs and your dish will be beautiful and ready!

Roll with bacon, stringy cheese and herbs

Ingredients: (1 roll- 16-18 slices)

  • 1 roll of rectangular pizza dough
  • 200g Bacon with Herbs
  • 150g sliced cheese (eg Edamer, Scamorza)
  • 6-8 herb leaves

Directions:

  1. First, take care of cutting the bacon into fairly thin slices, with the help of a sharp knife.
  2. Then unroll the pizza dough and start arranging the slices evenly, leaving about 4-5 centimeters of empty dough along the longer side at the top. This is to allow the roll to be sealed well.
  3. Arrange also the slices of cheese and those of herbs, after having washed and dried them carefully, always leaving an empty space at the top.
  4. Then start rolling the dough, trying not to tighten too much. In fact, when cooking it will tend to rise and, if very tight, it could crack and make part of the filling come out. Seal the ends and the edge well, so that the cheese does not come out during cooking.
  5. Bake in a preheated static oven at 180 ° C for 15-20 minutes. The time may vary according to the type and thickness of the dough. At the end of cooking, the outside must be golden brown, but not too dark.
  6. Finally take out of the oven, let it cool for about ten minutes and then cut into slices 1-2cm thick and arrange on a serving dish to serve. This roll is very good both hot and cold, so you can decide whether to prepare it in advance or not.
