Bat Halloween cupcakes

Bat Halloween cupcakes. These muffins are a cute idea for making some scary Halloween-themed treats, but not too scary! The base is a chocolate muffin, covered with chocolate ganache. Finally, a bat-shaped decoration with wings on top each consisting of Oreo halves and eye-shaped sugar candies. If you don’t find these candies, you can replace them with white candies on which you can draw the pupil with a drop of chocolate, or colored M & M’s.

Very similar and just as cute are the spider-shaped cupcakes, of which you can find the recipe here: Spider Halloween cupcakes. Usually I prepare 6 of each, so the doses for decoration are for 6 cupcakes, instead of 12. If you want to make them all the same, it will be enough to double the doses.

Ingredients (12 small chocolate cupcakes):

  • 100g butter at room temperature
  • 120g granulated sugar
  • 120g flour 00
  • 10g bitter cocoa
  • 4 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 sachet of vanillin (or 1Tbs vanilla syrup)
  • 1/2 sachet of baking powder

Ingredients (6 cupcake toppings):

  • 150g dark chocolate
  • 100ml whipping cream
  • 6 Oreo cookies
  • 12 sugar eyes

Directions (Bat Halloween cupcakes):

  1. First I suggest you prepare the chocolate ganache, breaking the chocolate into flakes and pouring the boiling cream over it. Mix well, until the chocolate is completely melted and let it rest for 2 hours. This is because the ganache must again dry and harden a bit before it has the perfect consistency for the cupcake topping.
  2. Switch to making chocolate muffins. Cream the butter at room temperature with the sugar. Then add one egg at a time, and blend between one and the other in order to add the second only when the first is completely incorporated.
  3. Add the flour, vanilla, baking powder and cocoa, continuing to blend. Lastly add the milk and knead until the mixture is homogeneous and creamy.
  4. Fill the cups with the help of a spoon and cook in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 15 minutes. Do the toothpick test, and when it is dry, take it out of the oven and let it cool.
  5. Then put the ganache in a piping bag and cover the chocolate cupcakes. Decorate by forming wings with an Oreo split in half with a knife and medium sized sugar eyes.
